Restless Aptitude Syndrome – which affects both men and women – can cause people to make uninformed career moves. They feel frustrated and unfulfilled and often leave the company, only to find themselves in their next role just as frustrated and under-performing because the job itself isn’t the problem, it’s because they’re not exercising their strong natural aptitudes.
David, 48 of Christchurch, wanted out of the bank …
Today, he is still in the same job, but has a woodworking set-up in the garage. Being able to express his creative ability outside work has made him far happier in his job.
Restless Aptitude Syndrom is particularly common amongst sales people because most people in sales don’t actually have the aptitude for sales. As a result, as they get older, their performance and results decline and they blame everything else instead of realising its coming from within.
A good analogy is that of a young reed: which is young and supple and bends with the wind. But as it gets older it becomes stiffer and less tolerant and doesn’t bend as easily and eventually it snaps.
The solution is to do the work, or an ‘outside of work’ activity that uses the strong abilities and the natural aptitudes that you have…
“When you express your natural abilities, the frustration disappears.”
CareerSure will identify these aptitudes and give you guidance on how to incorporate them into your life. It also highlights your own personality traits and learning styles that can assist you in better managing relationships.

I was at the crossroads in my career… after the assessment I understood my frustrations and became more aware of what suited me in a career ie. the environment and type of work which suited my skills and personality and thus would bring out the best in me …. I became much clearer in my thoughts, more dedicated toward my goals and finally made good sound decisions from which I have worked to. – General Practitioner / Tauranga
